Florida’s Theme and Water Parks
A great way to beat the heat this summer is to visit a theme or water park. Although known for Walt Disney World, Florida is home to many other notable parks that I will discuss here.

Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World is the #1 theme park in the world in terms of attendance; the park has an average attendance of 52 million visitors per year. This park is in Orlando and has many iconic rides and attractions, as well as four theme parks and two water parks. The theme parks are Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. The water parks are Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park.
Universal Orlando Resort
Universal is in Orlando and has two theme parks: Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, a water park: Universal’s Volcano Bay, CityWalk, shopping, dining, and hotels. It is also home to many iconic attractions including Harry Potter themed lands, movie themed rides, and more.
Busch Gardens
This Tampa park is not just a theme park, it is also a zoo and a botanical garden. The theme park has thrill rides, family rides, and kid rides. The most popular rides include “Cheetah Hunt,” “Montu,” “Kumba,” and “SheiKra.”
Adventure Island
This park is located in Tampa near Busch Gardens and has slides, a wave pool, a water play center, and a lazy river.
SeaWorld
SeaWorld is a marine life theme park in Orlando. It has rides, roller coasters, shows, and animal experiences. The most popular rides are “Mako” and “Antarctica.”
Discovery Cove
This theme park is owned by SeaWorld and has many attractions including swimming with dolphins, white sand beaches, snorkeling with fish and rays and more.
Aquatica
Located in Orlando, this water park has live animals, 36 water slides, six rivers and more.
Legoland Florida
Located in Winter Haven, this lego-themed park has many rides and attractions for kids 12 and under.
Rapids Water Park
This park is located in West Palm Beach and is “South Florida’s Top Family Water Park.” It features 29 water slides and a 25,000 foot long lazy river.
CoCo Key Orlando Water Resort
This water park is located in Orlando and is the largest canopy covered and outdoor water park in the area.
Daytona Lagoon
This water park is located in Daytona and has a wave pool, lazy river, a play structure, and five water rides.
Big Kahuna’s
This water park is located in Destin and has 40 water slides and attractions. It is also home to the largest man-made waterfall.
International Drive
International Drive features many different rides and attractions including NASCAR Kart racing, Magical Midway, and WonderWorks. I-Drive 360 is an entertainment complex located off of the International Drive that is home to The Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds, and Sea Life Aquarium.
