Connecticut Amusement Parks

If you ask any Connecticut kids where they want to go on a nice sunny day, you will most likely get the answer “Lake Compounce” or “Quassy”. These two amusement parks are the only ones located in the state of Connecticut and have proven to be great amusement parks for families and children of all ages. The two parks are Connecticut attractions and destination spots for school field trips, summer camps, and family day trips.

Lake Compounce

Lake Compounce is one of America’s oldest amusement parks and still has a few wooden roller coasters to this day. This park also has some newer, high-speed roller coasters on one end, with features like going backwards and upside down. On the other end you will find a water park and an assortment of different water slides and rides. Lake Compounce is so popular because it has rides for toddlers, young children, older children, and adults.

Lake Quassapaug

Lake Quassapaug or “Quassy” is another amusement park in Connecticut that is a lot smaller and is sort of a mix between an amusement park and a carnival. This park has a lot of rides and small roller coasters geared toward young children, but also a few for older kids. Also in this park is a large water park with a playground, water slides, and beach for swimming and paddle boating. On the other hand, you can enjoy the feel of a carnival with classic games and carnival rides, food vendors, and toy stands.

Reminders

Both of these amusement parks can be a lot of fun, but it is important to remember to stay hydrated, healthy, and safe during one of these day-long adventures. Staying alert and using your instincts is important when deciding to go on certain rides or to skip them. Many young high school students work at these parks, and though they are trained, their general youth and inexperience may lead to more mistakes.

Amusement park staff also work long hours in the sun and can sometimes be tired and dehydrated, so just watch to make sure that they are alert and being careful. Watch the employees who are operating the rides, and report them if they are being careless. Also be on the lookout for safety personnel and lifeguards at the water parks and report them if they are not paying attention to the rides and riders.

If you or a loved one do get injured while at Lake Compounce or Lake Quassy, get medical help as soon as possible. You can contact my office for further information on the next steps to take.
